Hope Solo Regrets Her "Mistake" Four Months After DWI ArrestFive months ago, on March 31, Hope Solo was arrested and taken to Forsyth County Jail for DWI and driving under the influence. According to several reports, cops took Hope into custody from the parking lot of a Walmart in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Cops say she was booked for impaired driving (DWI), resisting arrest, and misdemeanor child abuse. Cops said her twins were in the car when authorities pulled her over. Last month July, Hope pleaded guilty to Driving While Impaired, and the other charges labeled against her were dropped.

After pleading guilty to DWI, Hope was sentenced to 24 months suspension, and 30 days of being active, she was fined the sum of $2,500 and asked to pay $600 for lab test and to submit her driving license after completing all assessment tests required of her.

On Thursday, August 18, Hope took to her podcast “Hope Solo Speaks” to talk about her experience while in rehab, Hope said she is ashamed of what she had done but has chosen to forgive herself for it. Hope revealed that the incident that led to her going to rehab was “the biggest mistake of my life.” In her statement, Hope regrets letting alcohol take the better of her. Hope also said that the minute she received her first communal meal, she broke down in tears.

Hope Solo – Asks For Her Hall Of Fame Induction To Be Postponed To 2023

Barely a month after her arrest for impaired driving (DWI), Hope Solo asked for her induction into the National Soccer Hall of Fame which was scheduled to take place on 21st May 2022, to be postponed to 2023, on the grounds that she volunteered to join an alcohol treatment program.

The soccer star, who was initially slated to be inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in May, said on April 29 that she “will be voluntarily entering an inpatient alcohol treatment program to address my challenges with alcohol.”

“I have contacted the Hall of Fame and respectfully requested a postponement of my Hall of Fame induction ceremony to 2023,” she said in a statement shared on her social media accounts. “At this time, my energies and focus are totally directed to my health, healing, and taking care of my family: I want to thank the Hall of Fame for their support and for understanding my decision.”

While discussing her experiences before and after her rehab, Hope said: “Entering myself into treatment, awaiting the legal system, dealing with international and national headlines, canceling my attendance at the Hall of Fame induction, it seemed embarrassment compounded on top of embarrassment.”

Hope Solo — On How Hope Started Drinking

Hope explained in her podcast that she began drinking after she gave birth to her twins newly and had moved with her husband out from their family and friends, every day after work, she and her husband took a drink to unwind the stress of the day, slowly the drinking became a habit. Hope said she was “foolish” to think that she had the drinking under control.

Hope also revealed that it was very difficult for her to leave her family behind to embark on her 30-day treatment, more especially her twins. Hope said on the day of her departure, she kept waving back at them until she could no longer see them from the glass of the car then she bawled over. She said there were nights when she cried endlessly.

Hope also said that at some point she would definitely open up to her children about what happened that day, why the police officer knocked at her car window and why she had to go away for a while. She revealed that her family cooked up a story to tell her twins about her whereabouts, they had divided to tell the children that their mom had gone “fishing”
