Katharine McPhee On How Her Young Son Acquired His Musical Taste

Katharine McPhee – Opens Up About Her Toddler Son’s Musical Abilities

Katharine McPhee talked about her 20-month-old son during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. The actress, 38, shares Rennie with musician and record producer David Foster, 72.

Speaking on her son’s inclination to musical instruments, Katharine said that it’s natural, especially since he comes from parents who share a deep love for music.

“It makes sense that he’d be musical,” the “Scorpion” star, 38, told the outlet. “He’s certainly obsessed with the drums! Or imaginary drums, for that matter.”

However, David said that Rennie, his only son, is still too young for anyone to figure out whether he’ll grow up to choose music as his career.

“When you look at somebody like [athletes] Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, their kids are very talented… but they’re not tennis players, so we don’t know,” he added.

In August, proud mom Katharine shared two heartwarming videos of her son – whom she previously said she’s keen to teach him to “start young” – playing with different instruments around the house on her Instagram Story.

The first video showed the little boy having the time of his life banging on the piano.

“I love these chunky thighs,” she said, slowly zooming in on her son from across the room.

She also “showed off” her “child’s talents” with another video of him pounding on an electronic drum pad.

A few months earlier, Katharine shared several videos of Rennie enjoying the day with a tiny red drum set. She sweetly captioned the video, “16 months drummer boy”.

When it comes to documenting her son’s life, Katharine is not one to shy away from it, and her fans love the little tidbits she shares about being a working mom.
