Like many of us, Oprah Winfrey wants to be maintaining a weight that makes her proud and healthy. I mean, she’s been an advocate against obesity often enough, so when it looked like her own weight was getting unmanageable, the mogul decided to take the easy way out rather than diet and exercise.

She received criticisms from it, but her argument remains that it isn’t wrong to use the easy way out to shed a few unwanted pounds.

Oprah has been on the Weight Watchers board for nearly ten years, so it comes as no huge surprise that she’s stepping down a mere two months after she admitted and defended her reason for taking Oprah Winfrey Exits Weight Watchers’ Board After Admitting She Used Ozempic.

“I look forward to continuing to advise and collaborate with WeightWatchers and CEO Sima Sistani in elevating the conversation around recognizing obesity as a chronic condition,”

Oprah said in a statement issued on Feb. 29 announcing her departure. She further stressed that she will continue to work “to reduce stigma, and advocating for health equity.”

However, she hasn’t completely cut ties with the company, as she will still host Weight Watchers’ Weight Health event this May.

“I plan to participate in a number of public forums and events where I will be a vocal advocate in advancing this conversation,” Oprah’s statement continued. “In addition, I have decided to donate my interest in WeightWatchers to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. I have been a long-time supporter of this worthy organization, and I am proud to continue my support.”

After months of speculations that Oprah has joined the list of celebrities who use weight-loss drugs, the billionaire came forward.

She explained that at first, she was averse to taking medications to lose weight, but there were complications – her knee surgery – and she knew the importance of dropping weight.

“I had an awareness of [weight-loss] medications, but felt I had to prove I had the willpower to do it,” she told the magazine. “I now no longer feel that way. The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for.”

In December, she shared that “Obesity is a disease. It’s not about willpower — it’s about the brain.”

This conclusion helped her let go of whatever shame she was feeling for using medications.
