How will the sudser pull off steamy love scenes under such conditions? The show’s executive producer Iain MacLeod has stated that a number of plots have been changed in order to meet the government’s guidelines.

He said this includes the epic 60th-anniversary episodes, which originally called for Hollywood-style set designs and stunts; that has been all been cored back.

When MacLeod talked to news outlets recently, he said that the love triangle storyline remains despite the new precautions.

“What we’ve had to strip out of our planning for the 60th was some of the bigger, Hollywood spectacular elements simply because we didn’t have the time after we came back from the lockdown to build and install all of the things that we would need to do,” he said.

He added, “So we’ve kind of peeled all of that away and – much to my immense relief – what we’ve discovered is what’s below all of those Hollywood spectaculars are three or four fantastically good stories.”

He is optimistic that, “We’ve got a huge human interest story that emerges from something that is THE a screen right now, which has proved to be very engaging and popular with the audience. And we’ve got the classic, salacious love triangle story in there.”

Coronation Street spoilers – Corrie Will Continue Through To 2021

For fans worried about the show’s continuity, ITV exec John Whiston has confirmed plans to carry on through to 2021. He stated, “The other issue we’ve got is Christmas, so if we get knocked off our kilter then we might have to do a Christmas bubble and bring that it. But we’re prepared for all those things – we’ve got plan A, plan B, plan C, and Plan Z.”
