1. James Denton Has A Degree In Advertising

The Good Witch’s Denton majored in television and journalism at the University of Tennessee. However, Denton’s earned his college degree in Advertising. Denton sold ads for radio stations and the local CBS affiliate before switching to acting. After deciding to go into acting, Denton headed to Chicago where he became a member of The Griffin Theater and Strawdog Theater Ensemble. After joining the ensemble Denton starred as Stanley in “A Streetcar Named Desire.”

2. James Denton Originally Went By Jamie Denton

The Good Witch’s Denton was originally billed as Jamie Denton at the beginning of his career. Denton had a role in the tv series, “The Untouchables” in the early 1990s and went on to star in other tv guest spots as well. Denton also starred in films such as “Faceoff” and “Primary Colors.” Before ABC chose not to air the show, Denton had a starring role in his own series called “The Hanleys” as a small-town vet.

3. The Good Witch Was Not His First Show With Catherine Bell

The Good Witch is not the first time that Denton worked with costar Catherine Bell. Denton actually had a guest spot on her series “Jag” several years ago. The episode that Denton starred in was the “Fortunate Son” in 2003. James stopped using the name Jamie around this time as he got roles in other tv shows as well. In 2003 and 2004 Denton played Special Agent John Kilmer in “Threat Matrix” which ABC canceled for low ratings.

4. James Denton’s Desperate Housewives Role

When Threat Matrix was canceled, The Good Witch star was cast as Mike Delfino in Desperate Housewives. Denton is also interested in music and due to the success of Desperate Housewives, he got time to concentrate on his music. Denton had a band called 16:9 and then The Band From TV. Denton’s other band members were (are still) Hugh Laurie (House), Greg Grunberg (Heroes), Teri Hatcher (Supergirl and Desperate Housewives), and Bob Guiney (The Bachelor).

5. The Good Witch

Denton was cast in The Good Witch in 2015 which has become Hallmark’s top-rated show. Denton plays Cassie’s second husband, Dr. Sam Radford. Radford arrives in town with his troublemaking son and his head was quickly turned by Cassie.

Cassie and Sam have become best friends as well as partners. Cassie and Sam’s children left for college last season leaving the two of them to have to adjust to having an empty nest. Of course, that doesn’t mean they won’t have adventures of their own. The Good Witch airs on Sunday at 9 PM on Hallmark Channel.
