Curse of Oak Island footage from the History Channel got some mixed reactions from viewers. It seemed out of sequence and was vague about Season 13, which hasn’t yet gotten a trailer or release date. Additionally, Season 12 seemed disappointing.
The Footage Is A Teaser
On Tuesday, some footage arrived that seemed to be a teaser to keep viewers interested in the long-running series with Marty and Rick Lagina. If nothing else, though, it does seem to confirm that the educational channel won’t be axing the Curse of Oak Island anytime soon. Mostly, it focused on the discoveries made deep under the water.

Talking of water, there’s so much of it. Remember, in Season 11, all the efforts to try and get rid of water in the Garden Shaft came to nothing. Then, in Season 12, a good deal of time was spent stopping the water that was flooding in.
Some Of The Arefacts Found
In the teaser, fans of the 229-episode show saw the crew out on the water with Alex Lagina, looking for evidence of a structure that might have once been on land. The ROV went down, and so did Tony, who dived down with his metal detector. He couldn’t remove the artifacts and discovered a piece of old timber. Tony Sampson also found some pottery, a sailor’s pipe stem, and what looked like a Chinese coin.

Another shot showed Gary Drayton finding another coin. That scene was from 2020 of the Curse of Oak Island. It seemed interesting because it seemed that the coin was 1,000 years old, and similar to the one that Toiny found underwater.
Viewer Reactions Differ
One person who watched the footage from years gone by on YouTube seemed irritated. They commented, “ANOTHER out of sequence video- what a shock. The ball of confusion continues – with no continuity.”

Another unhappy viewer said, “Scam island would be a grate (sic) name,” and another one complained, “Still repeats already seen.”
However, many more people seemed upbeat about the show despite so many disappointing treasure finds. Here are some of their thoughts:
- The treasure will be found if they don’t give up.
- 12 years, 260 episodes later and I’m still hooked.
- This beats watching the news.
- If every day started with a video like this, I would always walk around with a smile to my ears.
- A significant amount of engineering, planning, excavating, tunneling and time was invested in hiding something big at Oak Island. Science, patience and persevering will pay off.
Despite many people complaining about nothing new, even the skeptics tune in to watch the old footage. So, perhaps deep inside, they still root for the Lagina brothers to find something more interesting than hints of the Templars and the Chinese.
