Royal Family News: Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Knew Naming Their Daughter Lilibet Would Be Controversial

But hey, they did it anyway. There’s a new report that says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle knew that naming their daughter Lilibet would be rather controversial, seeing how it was a special pet name that Prince Phillip once gave his wife, Queen Elizabeth.

But the couple did it to honor the late monarch anyhow, even though a lot of critics have said that it was disrespectful. Here’s what you need to know.

Royal Family News – Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Knew Naming Their Daughter Lilibet Would Be Controversial

According to royal author Tom Quinn, Prince Harry knew that the name Lilibet would rub some people the wrong way simply because it was such a meaningful, and if not also private name for his late grandmother.

But it was a name that both he and Meghan knew would be a perfect fit for their newborn daughter, who was born back in 2021. The couple also have a son, Archie, who was born in 2019.

In his new book, Gilded Youth, Quinn put it this way, “Even naming this child sparked a diplomatic scuffle. Hating even to think about the admittedly labyrinthine rules of protocol that surrounded the British royal family, Meghan and Harry called her Lilibet, apparently in the belief that it would be a wonderful surprise for her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.”

Royal Family News – Harry And Meghan Wanted To Enhance Their Royal Currency

What’s more, some people believe that Harry and Meghan chose the name because it would “enhance their royal currency,” even though they are the least liked royals right now.

He continued, “That Harry did not have the sense to predict that this would cause trouble is beyond belief. He surely would have known that appropriating the monarch’s beloved childhood nickname would be perceived by many as disrespectful and intrusive in a way that naming their daughter Elizabeth would have not been.”

Thankfully, Queen Elizabeth did get to meet her namesake great grandchild during her Platinum Jubilee back in June 2022, and only a few months before she died.

Who writes these articles?! Whomever does needs to do a bit more research so they don’t sound so ignorant. Queen Elizabeth gave the name Lilibet to herself when she was a baby because she couldn’t say Elizabeth. Her Grandfather liked it so much that the name stayed with her. It became Prince Philip’s private nickname for her. The gruesome twosome should have asked her if they could use it instead of just doing so then springing it on her afterwards. As usual, they thought they could do whatever they want to no matter who it may bother. Looks like karma is coming back to bite them on their butts. They should have thought about that before they betrayed his family.

I don’t understand why the world has so much to say about a name that was supposed to be as remarkable and celebration of as the queen himself and her many years of rain so in my opinion if the queen didn’t have a problem with this and if she rejoiced and embraced it why in the hell with the rest of the world see something wrong with this they are the people’s business that’s the whole problem these days that people love to not mind their own damn business I salute them for what they did because it wasn’t supposed to be any kind of harmful anything towards the queen it was supposed to be to where they honored her and want to name their new daughter with her name.
