Kelsey Grammer Confirms Frasier Reboot

Kelsey Grammer

Kelsey Grammer has confirmed the status of a possible Frasier reboot. He first brought up the idea for the reboot with TV Guide back in 2017, but the cast and crew were only in talks at the time. According to Grammar himself, a possible Frasier revival could happen as soon as next spring. Grammar made an appearance on In Depth with Graham Bensinger, in which he talked about reprising his famous role as Frasier Crane.

The actor said that he’s currently trying to negotiate a home for the project. However, he believes that production could happen as soon as early spring and that the show could air as soon as late summer 2020. Grammer said that the cast is ready to start filming, but they’re waiting until the right moment. They’re currently working out some network details. They have been pitching the project to numerous cable networks.

Apparently, there’s a lot of stuff that’s going on behind the scenes. While the show itself is ready to go, they just need to find the right staff and network for it. But there are a few networks that are currently interested in revisiting this story. Grammer already has an idea as to where he would like to see a Frasier revival end up. During a previous interview on SiriusXM’s Jim Norton & Sam Roberts show, Grammer revealed that Netflix would be the perfect place for a Frasier reboot.

He believes that reruns of the successful NBC comedy would attract a new crop of viewers on the platform. Frasier is already one of the top 10 comedies on Netflix. So, Grammer feels that there’s no other better place than the streaming service itself. And during a previous interview on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Grammer revealed that he already met with the writers on the project.

While the Frasier revival has the same cast of characters, it’s focused on a different story this time around. It’s also in a different setting. Obviously, time has passed, and everyone has gone through something different in their lives. The Frasier revival would also address the passing of John Mahoney, who passed away over a year ago. Grammer went on to say that the Frasier revival would be picking up where the characters left off, similar to Will & Grace.

For now, old episodes of Frasier are available to stream on Amazon Prime, CBS, Hulu, and Netflix. It’s expected to move to NBC’s new streaming service called Peacock, come April 2020.
