Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Release Date Has Arrived: See Details

Lucifer In early March, Netflix announced the coming of Lucifer Season 5 Part 2. The release date for the part 2 episodes was scheduled for May 28 on Netflix.

Details about the upcoming part 2 episodes have just been revealed. But that’s not the only good news to thrill Lucifer’s fans.

Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Details

The ongoing pandemic paused the production of Season 5 of the hit series. Reports state that they were finally able to finish filming Season 2, albeit later than originally expected, in late September last year. The first half of Season 5 premiered on Netflix on August 2, with no detail at the time regarding the arrival of the remaining episodes.

Now it’s been confirmed that the later part of Season 5 will be dropping on the streaming service on May 28.

D.B Woodside, who plays Amenadiel in the urban fantasy series, teased fans on what they can expect to see happening in the upcoming episodes: “When God (played by Dennis Haysbert) comes, a lot of chaos is going to follow. We pick up literally two seconds from where we ended, and Amenadiel is absolutely humiliated that God saw him behaving the way that he was with his brothers because as the oldest, he’s really supposed to be the one that sets the example — and he was not doing that!”

As fans of the show know, Lucifer got a brand new twin brother (also played by Ellis), oddly named Michael, and between the two brothers, we can expect to see the two perform a hellish show on Earth.“It was a new challenge to me, that’s for sure,” Tom Ellis told Backstage in an interview when he was asked how he adjusted to playing the new character. “What I realized is that I’ve played Lucifer for five years; it’s very easy for me to step in and out of Lucifer’s skin. Playing a new character — messed with my head a little bit. For a long time, I felt like a fraud to my friends and colleagues. But it was nice to think about a different character for a while.

“I had a certain set of rules that I had to work in. We’re always set up against time when we’re shooting… So in terms of Lucifer and Michael being different, I had to go old-school in that and figure out physicality and voice and how a character walks, as opposed to any sort of transformative prosthetics.”

Series co-showrunner Joe Henderson promises fans a more emotional show than they’ve had so far.
“Lightness is mixed in but I feel like 5A started a little darker,” he shared. “5B will be both brighter and even darker still and it’s always darkest before the dawn.”

A great deal of the emotional aspects will be coming from the newly introduced family dynamic that brings a new side to Lucifer, a more personal side than fans have yet seen of him so far.

“This is a family story,” Henderson added. “Dad’s home and he’s not happy with what his kids have been up to. “That is so much of what we will explore in 5B is just that family relationship, and the emotional aspects of that.”

Fans of the show should definitely expect the father-figure role introduced in the series to make a prominent impact on the direction of the remaining episodes of Season 5.

Netflix Announces A Sixth Season

After the show was canceled by Fox, the original network for the series, it was picked up by Netflix. And though it was originally announced that season five of the show will act as the finale, the streaming service amended and decided to add one more Season to the Lucifer series when fans campaigned for it.

Netflix announced the news at the time, calling Season 6 the final Season. They shared a burning 666 clip, with the first and last 6 disappearings to reveal only the middle 6, captioning it: “The devil made us do it. #Lucifer will return for a sixth and final season. Like, FINAL final.”

Filming for the final season has also wrapped up, with DB Woodside sharing the words: “The last scene with my brother @tomellis17… and I can not stop crying.”

Tom Ellis replied with his own emotional words, calling Woodside “the real deal.”
