One Day at a Time Will Be Different on Pop TV Than on Netflix

One Day at a Time will be completely different from how it was portrayed on Netflix. The sitcom was picked up by Pop TV. The change from streaming to a cable network comes with big changes for the show. It also brings up new challenges. The reboot of the 1975 series of the same name first aired on Netflix in 2017.

It stars Justine Machado as Penelope, a single mom, nurse, and veteran who has trouble raising two teenagers after her divorce. She also gets some help from her stubborn and traditional mom and their landlord, Schneider. One Day at a Time received high praise from critics and fans alike. The sitcom received a second and third season until it was canceled in early 2019, much to the shock of fans.

The cancellation news came at an unwelcome surprise. Netflix wouldn’t reveal why it decided to cancel the series. The streaming service never reveals its viewership numbers. It released different statements about the cancellation, but none of them resonated with fans. Fans started an online campaign to save One Day at a Time. It was supported by showrunner Gloria Calderon Kellet, the cast, and even some of the critics. They all pitched in together and used their platform to get the show picked up by another network.

Pop TV announced that it picked up One Day at a Time and fans were pleased. The cable network is known for popular comedies like Schitt’s Creek, which makes it the perfect home for this sitcom. But this comes with some bad news. Even though One Day at a Time Season 4 will start soon, fans were disappointed to hear about the latest changes.

One Day at a Time Seasons 1-3 had a catchy theme song penned by Gloria Estefan. Kellet tweeted that the song had to be cut to allow more on-air time. One Day at a Time Season 4 will air on March 24, 2020 on Pop TV, according to Showbiz CheatSheet. However, on Netflix, each season was dropped in its entirety, but that won’t be the case on the network. Fans will have to tune in each week to see what happens.
