Ray Donovan Not Cancelled? Liev Schreiber Says 'There Will Be More'

Ray Donovan star Liev Schreiber is breaking his silence after the news exploded. He’s played the character for seven seasons and now he’s trying to change Showtime’s minds on canceling the series. Last week, it was announced that Ray Donovan would not return for the eighth season.

Schreiber took to Instagram to thank fans for their support. He also claimed that “there will be more Ray Donovan,” as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

“It’s hard to describe how amazing it feels to those of us in the Ray Donovan family who have been lucky enough to experience the overwhelming love and support that all of you have expressed for our sow since the news broke that Ray would not return,” he wrote. “What’s even more incredible is that it seems your voices have been heard. Too soon to say how or when, but with a little luck and your ongoing support, there will be more Ray Donovan. So to all the Donofans who got their bats out and beat the odds. Thank you.”

According to TooFab, the actor shared his first reaction after the news came out. Paparazzi asked Schreiber how much he’s going to miss playing Ray Donovan. He said that he’s “gonna miss the people who made it.” He also said he had “a great experience” but he wasn’t sure if the show could come back. Schreiber added that Ray Donovan is one of his favorite characters that he’s ever played. Sources close to the show told Page Six that the series will get a proper ending.

In addition, showrunner David Hollander stated his confusion over the cancellation news. In an interview with Vulture, he said that the cast and crew are “still scratching our heads.” They weren’t aware that the show was getting canceled. “We were behaving creatively as though we were in mid-sentence. And so, there was no sense that this was going to be a completion. This was in no way a series finale.”
