Is The Good Doctor Season 7 Returning In 2023?

The Good Doctor spoilers, news, and updates reveal that The Good Doctor is not coming back during the usual fall schedule this year. ABC has made significant changes to its fall lineup amid the ongoing writers and actors strike, which is why we won’t be seeing the premiere until next year.

The Good Doctor Season 7 was confirmed in April 2023, shortly before the finale of Season 6.

The Good Doctor Spoilers – Strike Causes Uncertainties For Scripted Shows

The ongoing strikes among writers and actors have caused uncertainties over the future of many scripted TV shows. ABC predicts that the strike will take long to be resolved, so it has made some changes to its usual fall lineup.

Instead of scripted shows, the network will air unscripted programs, such as Dancing with the Stars, Shark Tank, The Golden Bachelor (new show), and Celebrity Jeopardy.

If the strikes conclude soon, we might see The Good Doctor Season 7 arrive early next year, January 2024, at best. Scripts will still have to be written before they can resume filming, so delays are imminent. Usually, primetime shows start filming in mid-summer for a fall premiere.

Regardless of how much delay the show is facing, fans of The Good Doctor are sure to be eagerly awaiting its return. Season 6 ended with major cliffhangers that should be addressed early in the next season.

We’ll see Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara) and Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) bringing home their newborn and probably adjusting to the life of being first-time parents. It is likely going to be extra challenging for Shaun, who isn’t the best at facing changes.

Unfortunately, we might not see some cast members returning in the next season. Dr. Andrews has resigned from the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital as Hill Harper, who has played the character, is running for Senate. Dr. Andrews has chosen his love for Nurse Villanueva over being the president of the board. Meanwhile, Dr. Perez has also left to recover from opioid addiction.

Meanwhile, we’ll still see some of the beloved characters, including Dr. Audrey Lim (Christina Chang), Dr. Alex Park (Will Yun Lee), Dr. Asher Wolke (Noah Galvin), Dr. Jordan Allen (Bria Henderson), and Dr. Jared Kalu (Chuku Mody).
