However, Shore joined Friedman and Gunn in promising a final season to remember. And as the executive producer as well as the star, Freddie Highmore shared, “Playing Dr. Shaun Murphy has been an immense privilege and one of the most remarkable and rewarding experiences of my life. I will always be grateful to David, Liz, and Erin as well as the hugely talented — and lovely — cast, writers, and crew who made this show possible.”

ABC will air The Good Doctor Season 7 premiere on Tuesday, February 20 at 10/9c on ABC. And Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich shared the studio’s appreciation for the medical drama’s success. “Thanks to David Shore and Liz Friedman’s creative direction and anchored by Freddie Highmore’s performance, The Good Doctor has captivated audiences, who have deeply connected with Dr. Shaun Murphy and the staff at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital,” he said.

But the Disney Television Group president also discussed the impact that the show made. And he added, “As we prepare to finish this beloved story, words cannot express our gratitude for the incredible cast, crew and our partners at Sony and ABC Signature for the lasting impact they’ve made.”

The Good Doctor stars Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy. And it became notable for Freddie’s portrayal of a young autistic surgeon with savant syndrome who joins a prestigious hospital’s surgical unit. The Good Doctor also featured The West Wing alum Richard Schiff as his mentor/father figure, Dr. Aaron Glassman.

But Glassman and Shaun experienced a rift. However, in season six, The Good Doctor showed Shaun and his wife, Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara) welcoming their son. The baby boy was named Steve Aaron Murphy after Shaun’s brother and Dr. Glassman.
