TV Reboot News: High Fidelity Premiere Date, Plus Zoe Kravitz Teases What to Expect

High Fidelity

High Fidelity began as a book, released in 1995. Five years later, it was adapted into a movie starring John Cusack and Jack Black. Then there was a 2006 musical and now, fans will be treated to watching it as a series on the streaming platform Hulu. Find out the premiere date, a few tidbits about the story and how it’s being modernized.

About the High Fidelity TV Show

The story revolves around a record store owner who revisits former loves. However, don’t expect a lot of things to stay the same. It had to be modernized and there were some other tweaks as well. For one, Rob will be a female character in the TV show, portrayed by Zoe Kravitz. She also serves as an executive producer.

Premiere Date, How to Watch and Episode Count

High Fidelity will no longer be airing on Disney+. Instead, the TV reboot will be available on the streaming platform Hulu. Deadline reported the change happened after Disney’s acquisition of Fox assets, which gave Disney a 60% controlling stake in the popular streaming platform.

The premiere date is February 14, 2020, according to Parade. The series will have a total of 10 episodes, which will all be available to view at once.

TV Reboot News: Zoe Kravitz Talks New Hulu Series

Even though the original Rob was male, very little changes to the main character were made except for gender. Although Kravitz admits it is her own interpretation, she believes the heart of the character is the same.

As for updating the story to keep up with the current state of the world, Zoe told Entertainment Weekly it had to be modernized a bit.

“Now we are dealing with people who are not only obsessed with pop culture, but also nostalgia.”

High Fidelity Reboot: Romantic Wreckage and Casting Details

What viewers can expect is for music-obsessed Rob to go through the “romantic wreckage of her top 5 heartbreaks.” She doesn’t have to do this alone, though. She has her besties, one of which is opinionated Cherise (Da’Vine Joy Randolph). Then there is her other BFF, moody Simon (David H. Holmes). Simon and Rob dated before he came out.

Rob is still trying to recover from her latest break-up, but finds someone she is interested in. His name is Clyde (Jake Lacy) and recently made the big move from Los Angeles to New York. He doesn’t have the same passion for music as Rob. However, his humor and openness are intriguing to the record store owner.
