Actress Kate Walsh has dropped a bombshell announcement on social media about her return to ABC’s medical drama television series “Grey’s Anatomy” to reprise her role as Dr. Addison.
Walsh will relive her character as Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery, a world-class gynecological and neonatal surgeon, for a multi-episode arc in the upcoming season 18 scheduled to premiere on September 30.
Walsh had her debut on Grey’s Season 1 finale in an intense moment against Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) introducing herself as Dr. Derek Shepherd’s (Patrick Dempsey) estranged wife. Since then, the two have had a history of butting each other’s heads.

Walsh’s announcement came weeks after another Grey’s fan-favorite character, Dr. Ellis Grey, played by star Kate Burton, was announced to return to the show.
“Good Morning America” confirmed that the show’s original star, Burton, will appear in multiple episodes in the upcoming season just like Walsh.
Burton played Dr. Ellis Grey, Dr. Meredith’s mother who lost her battle with Alzheimer’s in the show’s season 3. Although she regularly appeared in the show as flashbacks and dreams, details about her return are still kept under the rug.
