The Blacklist spoilers and updates tease that the show’s upcoming season 9 may provide an explanation behind the death of Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone). Fans may finally get an answer as to why the show had to kill off Boone’s alter ego.

Fans may recall that the character’s portrayer, Boone, has announced her departure from the show before the eighth season ended. The people behind the TV series know that ahead of time it’ll be Boone’s last season so they had enough time to think about how to write off her character.
The Blacklist followed the unusual working and personal relationship of criminal informant Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) and FBI profiler Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone). Both characters have been around since the show’s inception. Now that Boone’s gone, the show may have to come up with a new take for the hit TV series.

Although it had some questionable storylines, the show had a lot of viewers. Even though some fans say they watch the show because of Spader’s impeccable acting, The Blacklist won’t be the same without Boone’s alter ego.
Some viewers doubt that Keen’s death is real since the character already faked her death in the past. Followers of the show may recall that the show’s writers resurrected the character, when she returned with her daughter, Agnes. Maybe, Keen’s death is real this time and the show may have a reason behind her demise.

The Blacklist Season 9 – Megan Boone’s Death As Part Of A Bigger Plan
Her death may probably be part of a much bigger plan for Spader’s character. In previous seasons, the show has been dropping hints that Reddington is sick. There were episodes where he can be seen taking medications but it was never revealed or confirmed if he did have any serious medical condition.
In the season 8 finale, Keen was shot in the back by one of the men of the crime lord Neville Townsend’s (Reg Rogers). Perhaps, Keen’s death would pave the way for Reddington’s full recovery. One fan thinks that Red may be “getting an organ donation from Liz would be just the kind of thing that they might do to cure him.”
“With heart transplantation or whatever cure he finds. Red was ill because the plot needed it. Now the mythology is gone, and the new plot needs healthy Red,” another fan wrote. Whatever the reason is, fans will have to wait for season 9 to hit the TV screen.

Killing off Elisabeth Keen has ruined the show for me.
agree! but the mystery of the show is still in play. does look like they really killed her this time. yet, this article made me think. Red was acting normal to her hesitancy to kill him, kind of like just buying time. perhaps with townsman out of the picture, his head employee was seeking new employment. red always was for keeping Elizabeth safe, so perhaps since she wasn’t ready to kill him, they deviced a new plan to keep her safe and placed her on an island somewhere. know that Elizabeth is dead, non of the enemies are looking for her. I do agree though, her death kind of makes the show lack a character. she was what the whole thing was about, they can’t just kill her. very similar with lethal weapon, they killed the main acting part and tried to create a similar one, didn’t sit well!
