Russell Crowe On Why He's “Uncomfortable” With Gladiator 2Russell Crowe was launched to worldwide fame with his Oscar-winning role in Ridley Scott’s 2000 epic movie, ‘Gladiator.’

Russell Crowe – Reacts To News Ridley Scott Is Making A ‘Gladiator 2’

We really are in the era of twos, from ‘Beetlejuice’ to ‘Gladiator’ and even Whoopi Goldberg’s ‘Ghost,’ our old favorites are returning to thrill modern day film lovers. But Russell Crowe is not exactly sure he’s 100% hooked on ‘Gladiator’ getting a sequel.

Speaking in a new interview on ‘Kyle Meredith With…’ Crowe shared, “I’m slightly uncomfortable, the fact that they’re making another one, you know? Because of course, I’m dead, and I have no say in what gets done. A couple of things that I’ve heard, I’m like, ‘No, no, no. That’s not in the moral journey of that particular character.’ But you know, I can’t say anything. That’s not my place. I’m six feet under. So we’ll see what that is like.”

The actor, 60, further talked about how the news of a ‘Gladiator’ sequel caused him to look back on his successful film career, which includes starring roles in ‘Master and Commander,’ ‘Robin Hood’ and ‘Les Misérables.’

“I reflect back on the age I was when I made that film and all the things that came after it and the doors that particular movie opened for me,” he said. “So there’s definitely a tinge — and this is just being purely honest — a tinge of melancholy, a tinge of jealousy. Because I remember when I had tendons.”

In a previous interview which took place last year, Crowe revealed that he doesn’t “know anything about the plot.” And why should he? Fans saw him die in a duel against the movie’s villain Commodus.

The upcoming sequel has already cast ‘Normal People’ breakout star Paul Mescal in a lead role as the grandson of former Emperor Marcus Aurelius.
