Coronation Street Actress Defends Prostitute Nicky, ‘Daniel Needs Someone Different’

Coronation Street spoilers previously teased Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) would meet a gorgeous woman named Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson). However, fans were stunned that Nicky is actually a prostitute. However, she will continue to share scenes with the distraught widow. The actress defended Nicky and said, “Daniel needs someone different.”

ITV Coronation Street Spoilers – Daniel Osbourne’s Grief

Corrie spoilers reveal that despite putting on a brave face, Daniel is still in deep mourning. He can’t seem to move forward, even though he got help from a retreat. Fans watched as Daniel drowned his sorrows, thought Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) was his dead wife, neglected his baby boy, and took a deep downward spiral.

Viewers thought that he was going to turn a corner in the right direction when he returned. However, it seems that he can’t move on after losing Sinead Osbourne (Katie McGlynn) to cancer.

Corrie Soap Spoilers – Meeting Nicky Wheatley

As previously reported, Daniel would meet Nicky at a party full of lawyers. Even though she looks similar to Sinead, her personality is very different. She has no boundaries, is forward, direct, and put a smile on Daniel’s face. Adam Barlow (Samuel Robertson) was relieved to see Daniel the happiest he has been in a long time.

However, after Nicky revealed her profession and told Daniel her rates, he was devastated. He thought that she was truly interested in him. The two do end up spending the night together, but Daniel regrets it. Then, he lies to Adam about his adventures with Nicky. Concern creeps in when Adam learns that Daniel bought some strong alcohol to numb his emotional pain.

Don’t expect that to be the last of Nicky, though. Daniel will reach out to her again and the two talk about Sinead. So, it appears that the new character will stay in Daniel’s orbit.

Coronation Street Updates & Spoilers – Backlash Over Sex Worker

Coronation Street spoilers reveal that there is fan backlash over Daniel bonding with an escort. However, the actress was expecting it and in fact, welcomes viewers discussing the hot topic of Nicky’s career. According to Digital Spy, the actress explained,

“That’s what we want when we do a soap: divide opinions and discussions.”

As for whether Daniel would become romantically involved with Nicky, all the signs point to yes. Not only does the actress invite conversations about Nicky being a sex worker, but whether Daniel is ready to move on or not.

Corrie Spoilers – Kimberly Hart-Simpson Defends Character

Nicky’s similar appearance to Sinead was brought up. While the actress does agree that the two women share similar physical characteristics, they are total opposites when it comes to their personalities. She also commented that Daniel needs someone different.

“I don’t think they’re very similar at all except visually. We go off visuals first then personality and Nicky is a bit more punchy. They’ve got different energy and a different background.”

Hart-Simpson added, “Daniel needs somebody different”
