Coronation Street Spoilers: Confirmed – Dame Maureen Lipman Is Back At Work

Coronation Street spoilers and updates reveals Evelyn Plummer is back at the Cobbles after taking a scenic rail trip with a friend. ITV has confirmed that Dame Maureen Lipman has returned from her sabbatical to reprise the role.

In January, Dame Maureen Lipman took a break from the soap as she awaited her COVID-19 vaccine. The 74-year-old veteran star also had to deal with the passing of her partner due to the virus.

“It’s been a time that I personally can’t complain about, except on behalf of the people who haven’t been as fortunate, because I continued in Coronation Street after the first initial lockdown,” Lipman previously explained of her absence on the screen, per Digital Spy.

“I went back. I’m still officially working on it, except that I’m taking a bit of a sabbatical until I get my vaccination at the moment,” she added.

Shortly after, she revealed that her long-time partner, Guido Castro, passed away. The 84-year-old had a short battle with COVID-19 that weakened him significantly. He had a form of Parkinson’s disease.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Lipman Returns to Set

Lipman has returned to the set of “Coronation Street” and started filming again. “Maureen made the sensible decision to be fully vaccinated before she got back to work, but now she is and she is raring to go,” an insider told The Sun. “The cast and crew have missed having her around and work is a really welcome distraction for her.”

Coronation Street Spoilers – Not A Happy Family Reunion

Evelyn’s return to Weatherfield is not going to be a happy family reunion, and Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) will be in trouble when he meets his grandmother again.

Tyrone has cheated Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) and left home after admitting that he had fallen in love with Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu). Evelyn was furious to hear what happened and said she would “string him up” when she’s back.

It will be interesting to see how she would react in-person to Tyrone’s cheating chaos. Evelyn is not the type to mince her words, so Tyrone will probably hear an earful. Tyrone and Fiz are facing a legal battle for the custody of their children. If Tyrone moves out of the family home for good and they remain separated, Evelyn would have to move out as well.

Jennie McAlpine, who portrays Fiz, teases that there’s going to be a lot of rollercoaster scenes between Fiz and Tyrone.

“They still like each other Fiz and Tyrone, they’re fond of each other, Fiz hasn’t changed, but even when she finds this out, she still loves him really as much as she ever did,” Jennie said. “And that’s the trouble, and he doesn’t [love Fiz] or says he doesn’t. But he’s still fond of her.”
