Coronation Street Star Alan Halsall Explains Why Tyrone Tells Alina To Leave

Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall opens up about his character’s decision to ask Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu) to leave Weatherfield for good. It’s a move that will deeply hurt Alan but he knows he has to do it for the sake of his family.

Viewers may recall that the latter finally admitted out loud that she’s falling for him, which led to the kiss. Tyrone loves Fiz Stape (Jennie MacAlpine) but he is also falling hard for Alina. He’s currently conflicted and isn’t thinking straight as to what he wants for his future.

Halsall explained that he didn’t intend to develop feelings for Alina. It just happened. “I don’t think there’s any intent at all from Tyrone, I don’t think he sees it coming, or that he’s got any chance with Alina, and then it just so happens that he has,” the actor said.

“There’s no intent there, there’s no malice towards anybody in Tyrone’s world,” he continued. But “he’s caught up in that whirlwind of excitement,” which is “something that he’s not had in a long time,” without realizing the damage it’s causing.

Halsall added that it’s obvious that Tyrone wants Alina to stay. But he’s the type of guy who “puts people before himself” and does “the best for the family.” So, it will be difficult for Tyrone to tell Alina to leave because he thinks he loves her but he also knows that his family is his top priority. “He’ll be hurt, but he feels like it’s something that he needs to do,” he said.

Coronation Street – Is Tyrone Really In Love With Alina Pop?

Tyrone believes that he’s in love with Alina, at least for now, the actor explained. He explained that his character feels he “got lost in his life a little bit” and may feel that Alina may guide him to the right path. However, he doesn’t want to hurt Fiz and their children. Tyrone may have not forgotten about his children’s welfare but in this type of story, they are the ones that usually end up as collateral damage.

Tyrone loves Fiz, of course, but not just the way he feels for Alina. He may have them both in his own perfect world but the truth is, he’ll have to choose between them eventually. Whether his feelings for Alina are true or not remains to be seen as their storyline progresses. “As to whether Alina feels that or other people believe that, I’m not sure, but for him, I think this is very real,” Halsall said.
