That’s what a new report seems to suggest and especially after the royal couple were involved in an alleged car chase with the paparazzi through the streets of New York City just last week. According to royal author Carolyn Durand, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking to rethink their strategy when it comes to the media and their roles as very public people.

Durand suggested that Harry and Meghan are chased all the time by photographers and because of it, Harry is determined to do whatever it takes to keep his family safe, even if that means he and Meghan have to retreat out of the spotlight for quite some time.

In an interview with Sky News, Durand put it this way, “The Duke and Duchess want to create the compromise where they can live a quieter life in California, but still highlight the issues that are important to both of them. And I think that that’s laudable, certainly. They’ll have to make a determination about what the balance is: if they really want that life of privacy and how you balance that with people chasing you on the streets of New York or LA or London.”

Last week, a spokesperson for the Sussexes said that their two-hour chase with the paparazzi could have been fatal. Yet, other reports suggest that a high-speed chase around Manhattan would be nearly impossible seeing how the city always sees bumper-to-bumper traffic.

So far both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not made any comments about the matter, but it has been pointed out that the Sussexes do spend a lot of time at home in Montecito. Now, whether or not they do decide to attend any red carpet events in the future remains to be seen. Watch this space.
