Revenge Sequel: Is the Entire Cast Returning?

Revenge fans will be happy to hear that a sequel to the ABC series is currently in the works, according to a Deadline report. This new series will focus on a Latinx lead character but will still be connected to the original drama that aired from 2011 to 2015. Also, Temple Hill and ABC Studios will still be the minds behind the drama. However, series creator Mike Kelley and How to Get Away With Murder veteran Joe Fazzio will have their hand at writing the script.

The Revenge reboot is said to follow a young Latinx immigrant who is connected to a character from the original series. The story will follow this young woman to Malibu where she learns the murder of her biochemist mother, which leads to the destruction of her family and a global pharmaceutical epidemic. It’s not clear which original character will be featured in this new series. It also hasn’t been revealed if the original cast will appear in this new series. None of the original actors have been asked back to this project as of yet.

ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke spoke to The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year about bringing back some of ABC’s “brand-defining” shows. She expressed an interest in having more female leads on television. The reason for her decision is to attract their massive female audience. She’s also interested in rebooting previous ABC dramas such as Desperate Housewives, Lost, and Scandal. But there hasn’t been any confirmation on when those shows would happen. Burke would also like to expand on
the Fresh Off the Boat and Black-ish franchises.

As you may know, Black-ish already has Mixed-ish as part of its Tuesday comedy block. The network is also working on a Fresh Off the Boat spin-off series. Meanwhile, the Roseanne spin-off The Conners airs during the Tuesday comedy block. It has become one of the highest-rated comedies this Fall TV season. In addition, ABC has shot a pilot episode for NYPD Blue earlier this year.

As for Revenge, Kelley and Fazzio will executive produce the series together. They will join Kelley’s producing partner, Melissa Loy and Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen. Kelley has previously worked on the Netflix thriller What/In starring Renne Zellweger.
