Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that Devon is the biological father of Abby and Chance Chancellor’s (Connor Floyd) young son Dominic, born via surrogate Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes). Devon actually helped deliver baby Dominic, along with Abby, when Mariah had been kidnapped by Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) and they had arrived just in time as Mariah had gone into labor.

Viewers of The Young and The Restless will also remember that Devon took care of Dominic, at Abby’s request, while she was in Spain for several weeks looking for and bringing back Chance, who had been presumed dead. No one could blame Devon for becoming attached to his birth son; after all, he had a baby die when his late wife Hilary Hamilton (Mishael Morgan) died, and being involved with her twin may be a subconscious link for him.

Y&R Spoilers – Devon Hamilton Is Worried That Chance Chancellor’s PTSD May Harm Dominic Chancellor

Viewers of The Young and The Restless can see the signs of post-traumatic stress disorder in Chance since coming back from Spain; and not only that, Chance himself has spoken of his struggles about being a father. Devon had started off by asking Chance and Abby to amend the visitation schedule they had agreed upon, requesting more time by himself with Dominic, bringing the baby over to his place. Abby had become very upset about that, as viewers of The Young and The Restless will remember; she thought he was asking for shared custody then although he actually didn’t mean that.

Devon then felt forced to explore what options he had, and shared custody was one of them and decides, with some input from Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) to pursue it, although he doesn’t bring Chance into it. Perhaps if he had explained that he is concerned about Chance struggling with his post-mission issues and whether he is ready to be a father the misunderstandings wouldn’t enter into the situation.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Can Devon Hamilton And Abby Chancellor Figure This Out?

Viewers of The Young and The Restless know that Devon and Abby have been close friends for a very, very long time, and if Abby hadn’t trusted him, she wouldn’t have left Dominic with him when she went to bring back Chance. But yet she seems insecure, like she thinks Devon doesn’t trust she can take care of the baby or that she is being irresponsible or she’s emotionally unstable because of how she left the baby at his doorstep. Devon and Abby get into somewhat of a strained confrontation over his wanting shared custody and they argue over it, and she finally pushes him to tell what the truth is behind his request.

Finally he tells her his doubts about Chance being a capable father and that the emotional atmosphere may be disturbing to Dominic; based on what Chance had told him, and Chance owns up to it! Viewers of The Young and The Restless will see there won’t be a quick fix to this situation, and Abby and Devon’s friendship will continue to be strained over Dominic’s custody-it could tear them apart!

    No, if he and everyone else gives Abby and Chance space to bond with Dom, things would be much better… Devon has to take a step back, as Mariah did and Mariah had an even stronger bond.. she carried Dom and gave birth to him under terrible circumstances when she was held captive… Leave this family alone, Devon.
