Chicago Fire fans have been waiting patiently for the return of Kelly Severide, but is Taylor Kinney ever coming back? A few months ago Taylor Kinney announced he was taking a leave from Chicago Fire, and his character Kelly Severide was ushered off the canvas. But, the actor was super vague about why he was taking time off and when or if he would be returning.
The last time Chicago Fire fans saw Kelly Severide was in the episode airing on February 22. Severide left town for an arson investigation training program, and still has not returned.
Is Severide Coming Back To Chicago Fire
Severide has been a central character on Chicago Fire since the show debuted back in 2012. Since Taylor Kinney’s rushed exit, the writers brought back fan favorite Captain Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) for a stint on the show, however there’s no inclination that he is sticking around full time.
Chicago Fire Season 10 only has a few episodes remaining in 2023, and sadly there has been no signs that Kelly Severide will return for the finale.
Chicago Fire still has not been renewed for Season 11 and that could mean that we may never see Taylor Kinney on the show again. If NBC passes on the long-running series (which seems possible), and doesn’t order any more new episodes, then that means we won’t even get a proper send-off for Kelly Severide, or the rest of the cast and crew for that matter.
Is This The End Of Chicago Fire On NBC
Would NBC really pull the plug on Chicago Fire? Well, a lot has been happening behind the scenes. Not only did the primetime drama lose Taylor Kinney, but around the same time the show’s co-creator Derek Haas announced that he was also leaving.
Haas told Deadline, “Although I am leaving Wolf Entertainment next year to focus on creating new shows, I’m entirely committed to delivering amazing episodes of ‘Chicago Fire’ and ‘FBI: International’ through the end of the current seasons,” Haas said in a statement to Deadline in November 2022.
Haas continued “I learned everything I know about storytelling, pace, characters, production values, and hiring the best cast, crews, and staffs from Dick Wolf and Peter Jankowski, and as hard as it is to leave a place you love and have called home for over a decade, including incredible support from Universal Television, NBC and CBS, I look forward to building my own brand in entertainment.”
Could this be the end of Chicago Fire? Will the show be able to carry out an entire season without Taylor Kinney? Will you still tune in? Share your thoughts in the comments below and keep checking Celebrating The Soaps for more Chicago Fire spoilers and news.
